In the past few years, fractality is increasingly being used to describe complex structures in nature. It has recently been considered a valuable tool for analysing, understanding and designing smart grids. LINK research area is based on fractal principles to develop comprehensive architecture and control framework. Scientists should discuss and develop coordinated and harmonised operation and planning procedures for transmission and distribution grids combined with the flexible usage of customer devices, guaranteeing a reliable power supply. Additionally, considering the high requirements for data privacy and cyber security, new solutions will be necessary to perform dynamic optimisations in real-time, closed loops, and to enable Sector Coupling and Energy Communities. >>>
